U.N System grants Mozambique US$496 million in aid

Maputo (Mozambique) The United Nations system on Saturday granted Mozambique US$496 million in aid to strengthen the impoverished nation’s efforts in attaining good governance, economic development, human capital development and the battle against HIV/AIDS, official sources said

Luis said a total of US$156 million would be channelled to human capital, US$119 million on governance, US$118 on economic development and US$103 million on the HIV/AIDS pandemic which is affecting 16 percent of Mozambique’s 20 million people.

According to the official, UN agencies in Mozambique, in close collaboration with the government, developed the Mozambique United Nations Development Assistance Framework 2007 – 2009, which is based on the second Poverty Reduction Strategy 2006 – 2009.read more
